How to Jailbreak Your iPhone on OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w (Windows)

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3G on the 3.0 iPhone firmware using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is here. The 2G version of this tutorial is here

This tutorial can be used to jailbreak before applying the UltraSn0w unlock. UltraSn0w is not released yet. It will be soon. Meaning, if you require the unlock immediately then you should wait to jailbreak until UltraSn0w is released.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download RedSn0wfrom here or here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the latest 3.0 firmware from below and place it in the same folder.

3.0.0 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
3.0.0 (3G): iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Extract the RedSn0w zip file to the Pwnage folder.


Step Two
Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.


Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down shift and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won't create any wasted space on your iPhone.


Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.


Step Three
Once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the desired firmware you may launch redsnw0w.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.


Step Four
Once RedSn0w opens click the Browse button


Step Five
Select the firmware ipsw we placed in the Pwnage folder on our desktop then click Open


Step Six
Once the firmware has been verified click the Next button to continue.


Step Seven
Make sure Cydia is selected and click the Next button.


Step Eight
Please plug your iPhone into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button


Step Nine
RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode.


Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.


Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.


Step Ten
Your iPhone will now reboot


Step Eleven
RedSn0w will then begin uploading the new RAM Disk.


Step Twelve
Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done. Click the Finish button.
When your iPhone finishes reboot (5 minutes or so). It will be jailbroken with Cydia on the SpringBoard.

How to Jailbreak Your iPod Touch on OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w (Mac)

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPod (1G or 2G) on OS 3.0 firmware using RedSn0w for Mac. The Windows version of this tutorial is here

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the latest 3.0 firmware and place it in the same folder.

NOTE*: The iPod touch 3.0 firmware must be purchased from iTunes. iTunes will save the firmware files here:
~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Extract the redsn0w application from the RedSn0w zip file to the Pwnage folder.


Step Two

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a beta of the RedSn0w jailbreak for the second generation iPod touch.

Today at exactly 2 minutes past Beta O’Clock we are releasing a beta version of redsn0w. The release hopes to simplify the jailbreaking of your iPod touch 2G.

redsn0w is currently in beta as it relies on the user running it from the command line, but this new redsn0w functionality is being added into our GUI applications.

If you are not fully confident with using the command line, then hold off for those simpler tools that will be released sometime soon.

Any iPhone Devs want to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2 software? QuickPWN 3.0 Beta 2 is out! This is an unofficial release and it’s not created by the iPhone Dev Team. I know there are iPhone developers out there who want to upgrade to iPhone 3.0, iPod Touch 3.0, or iPhone 3G 3.0, but also want to keep their jailbreak. The Russian hacker Vortex has once again released an unofficial jailbreak at iPhoneApps.ru. I tried it on my iPod Touch with firmware 3.0 beta 2 and it works! You can only jailbreak on the iPhone 3.0 Beta 2, iPhone 3G 3.0 beta 2, and iPod Touch 1st Gen beta 3.0. It’s 3.2 MB only because it install’s RiPDev’s Icy program. Once you’ve jailbroken you need to open Icy, refresh all the sources and install OpenSSH to jailbreak. If you need any help please join the iPhone OS 3.0 forums and ask for help there. New iPod Shuffle - The Music Player That Speaks To You

The new iPod Shuffle it’s here. To be honest , the iPod Shuffle its the best iPod out there (for me). The only downside is that it had no display or a way to know browse songs. Why i say the shuffle is the best iPod out there? Simple, my first iPod was the classic shuffle. I used to charge it for 2-3 hours than i used to listen to music for the whole week going to school and back home ( and sometimes during the classes, but they were boring…. hey don’t judge me, thats college ).

Now, they got the new shuffle which is sexy as hell, 1/2 the size of the previous shuffle and 4 gigs of space. They got this new feature where the iPod will tell you the name of the song you are listening to and/or the playlist. Depending on what you use to sync the music to your iPod (mac or pc ) , you will hear a different voice. For mac you will hear a man’s voice and for a pc you will hear a women’s voice.

Now if you want to read between the lines, this is what Apple tells you : if you got a mac, than you got cojones ( that’s balls for those of you who dont speak French ). If you got a PC, than you a pussy.

I would like to know 2 things tho :

• what happens when the default headphones will break. THEY WILL !!!
• anybody knows where Hannah works at? I would like to pay her a visit, ask her a few question about … the new shuffle
