WhatsApp Sets Personal Record of 27 Billion Messages Handled a Day


WhatsApp has announced that is has a new personal record of amount of messages sent/received a day. The chat client handled 27 Billion messages -- 10 billion sent and 17 billion received. Back in December, the client saw 7 billion messages inbound, 11B messages outbound for a total of 18 billion messages handled in one day. 

The cross platform client seems to be picking up its growth. Back in April, CEO Jan Koum revealed that WhatsApp has over 200 million monthly active users, who collectively send and receive over 20 billion messages each day. 

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform smartphone messenger currently available for iPhone and all other smartphones. The application utilizes push notifications to instantly get messages from friends, colleagues and family. Switch from SMS to exchange messages, pictures, audio notes and video messages with WhatsApp users at no cost. All features are included without the need for extra in-application purchases.

WhatsApp, unlike its rivals, charges a $0.99 annual fee for using their service. On Android, the first year is free, but then after that, a $0.99 fee is charged.
