Steve Jobs Featured in Controversial Mattress Ad Campaign

Steve Jobs is one of the characters featured in a controversial mattress ad campaign created by Oglivy & Mather.

The campaign called 'Bounce Back' was made for bedding company Kurl-On. It features prominent characters falling down in life then bouncing back off the company's mattress. There's Steve Jobs getting pushed out of Apple, Mahatma Gandhi being fired from his role as a barrister, and teenage activist Malala Yousafzai being shot in the head by the Taliban.

Obviously, it's the depiction of Yousafzai being shot then bouncing back to receive an award that has been widely criticized. The ad was never published to the general public but appeared on a advertising industry website. An Oglivy & Mather spokesperson says the company "deeply regrets" the advert and wants to personally apologize to Malala and her family.

"The recent Kurl-On ads from our India office are contrary to the beliefs and professional standards of Ogilvy & Mather and our clients. We are investigating how our standards were compromised in this case and will take whatever corrective action is necessary. In addition, we have launched a thorough review of our approval and oversight processes across our global network to help ensure that our standards are never compromised again."
