Larger iPhone Reportedly Set for Release in September With Sapphire Glass and 441ppi Display
A new report in the South China Morning Post says Apple will release a new iPhone 6 in both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display sizes with sapphire crystal glass screen.

The tech giant will roll out the iPhone 6 in two sizes - 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch - in September, according to industry insiders who have seen the prototypes. The new iPhone screen will be made entirely from scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, they said. Sapphire crystal, second to diamond as the hardest material, is now used by Apple for its iPhone camera lens cover and touch identification.

According to the Post, the iPhone will feature a higher resolution resulting in a 441 pixels per inch (ppi) display, up from 326 ppi.

As previously rumored, insiders say the iPhone 5c will be dropped; however, the iPhone 5s will remain but be made from cheaper materials.

The design "freeze" for the iPhone 6 after which no further changes will be made to the device is reportedly set for April this year.

A report from yesterday questioned whether Apple will use sapphire crystal for the new iPhone 6 due to cost concerns; however, all signs currently indicate it will.
