iOS 7 Is Still A Work In Progress And The Final Design Will Likely Change Before Its Public Release
Thursday, 13 June 2013
Ever since Apple unveiled iOS 7 there has been a lot of talk about how colorful the operating system is and some even are going as far as to call it straight up tacky. I do have to admit, after using iOS 7 for the past few days it is amazing functionality wise, but the user interface definitely feels over saturated and unlike Apple.
If you feel that same way about iOS 7 in its current state you will be glad to know it is apparently still a work in progress. According to The Next Web many of the new icons were primarily designed by members of Apple’s marketing and communications department, not the app design teams. TNW further elaborated:
From what we’ve heard, SVP of Design Jony Ive (also now Apple’s head of Human Interaction) brought the print and web marketing design team in to set the look and color palette of the stock app icons. They then handed those off to the app design teams who did their own work on the ‘interiors’, with those palettes as a guide.
In essence there wasn’t a lot of communication between the various teams working on each stock iOS application and as a result it lead to many inconsistencies in icon design.
Right now iOS 7 beta is as it sounds, a beta software. Sources familiar with the matter said “the work on design and development is still going full tilt, and what was presented this week is firmly a ‘work in progress’”.
You can be expected to see iOS 7 change roughly 35-40% from what we have showed you guys previously to when it will be released to the public in the Fall.
